Make Heritage Revitalising Again

614 Hay St Reactivation

Client: City of Perth

Locaton: 614 Hay Street Mall, Perth

Project Overall: Reactivate abandoned upper-level area.

Year: 2021

The Hay St Reactivation project aims to transform an abandoned commercial space in Perth CBD into a vibrant community hub. By redesigning the heritage building at 614 Hay Street Mall, the project focuses on providing accommodations and mental health support for vulnerable citizens, including the homeless.

In collaboration with the City of Perth and Curtin University, the design incorporates sustainable practices and community-oriented spaces such as art studios, exhibition areas, and a Human Library. This initiative seeks to rejuvenate the city center, respect local culture and history, and foster social sustainability by creating opportunities for creative expression and personal development.
